It is not the Keystone pipeline, and it's not the XL pipeline. it's the tar sands pipeline. Despite the lipstick, it is a pig.
The State Department has issued a report saying it is not a big deal. But the report is about pipeline construction- it is not about the elephant tin the room. That elephant is global warming. If we are unable to say NO to ANY fossil fuel, even one that will tear up the landscape of a Massachusetts-sized chunk of Canada in order to very inefficiently produce some dirty fuel, then where are we in fighting global warming? We are nowhere, that is where we are.
Meanwhile, Canada has two coasts, one on the east and one on the west. Canada however wants to build a much longer pipeline to the Gulf coast of the USA. why? Because plenty of Canadians do not want a pipeline constructed on their land.
You may be one of the denial crew, and you may be clinging to the notion that those damn greenies are running the world. But think about it. Obama's administration is supposedly a bunch of crazy greenies, yet they seem poised to sign off on this. and even if by some miracle Obama says NO, well, the next time we have a Republican President it is going to get built. there is nothing you can preserve that we cannot destroy later, when it is our turn, know what I mean?
