Buffalo resident and LGBT activist Frank Goldberg née Aimee left the home of a relative on Monday evening December 16th and has not been seen or heard from since.
That region of upstate New York has been hard hit with a wide range of severe weather these past few weeks, a fact which has only made the already frantic search for the missing woman--who identifies as a male--even more urgent.
The city of Buffalo itself has as well seen a number of serious attacks on members of the LGBT community in recent years and, as is the case with New York City, there was a particularly sharp increase overall in such hate crimes last year too.
Buffalo police claim they're at a loss to explain what's behind the troubling uptick of violent acts committed against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered citizens in their district. However, they've also been slow to respond to this missing LGBT-person's case, adding they don't suspect foul play in Goldberg's sudden and uncharacteristic disappearance.
Thus, searchers have resorted to hiring a private detective to assist them in the quest to find her, and have planned a fundraiser gathering for December 27, 2013 at 7:00 PM in Buffalo's Unitarian Church.
Frank Goldberg, who according to colleagues prefers to use feminine pronouns when describing herself, is 5'5" tall, 150 pounds, and has "a tomboyish appearance" including short-cropped graying hair.
When last seen, the 36-year-old was wearing a green canvas coat with a hood, blue jeans, black laced boots and black wire framed eyeglasses. She may additionally be in possession of a black knit cap with a yarn Mohawk, a wallet with an ID in it and some cash, but no cell phone.
Goldberg was in the area of Lafayette Avenue and Grant Street when she vanished without a trace; there has been no activity whatsoever on her bank account/s since that day.
Anyone with information about what happened to this individual or her current whereabouts is urged to call 911 or the Buffalo Police Department at 716-851-4413. Tips may also be submitted at the Find-Frank-Goldberg page on Facebook, or emailed directly via FindFrankGoldberg@gmail.com.
