Prompt: I want you to write us a golfing cowboy poem.
Golf Hazards on The Range
By Heather L Campbell
October 9, 2013
There were cowboys on horseback
All riding out on the range
T'was so something different
Something out of place so strange
They had bags full of golf clubs
Green, orange, blue and brown..
Tied to the side of each horse
Heading out away from town...
Curiousity grabbed him...
My husband just had to know
Just where were they all headed?
Our jeep followed very slow
It wasn't very long when
The cowboy group stopped to play
Boots, chaps, and large cowboy hats
Were still worn that summer day...
Then almost as if on cue
It seemed as if just on time,
Some stray cattle appeared
All partners in this great crime
Would the cowboys now “play through”?
Would they lasso all these strays?
What choice would they all make?
Intrigued we wanted to stay
Almost like frozen in time
Cows or clubs what would it be?
Overhead clouds opened up
A greatdown pour* - now to flee...
We got back on the main road
As fast as our jeep would go
A mystery unsolved...
Cows or clubs we'll never know
-Cow pissing on a flat rock
Urban Dictionary A particularly hard rain storm. In other words, it's coming down so hard, it's as if a cow is pissing on a flat rock.
"Wow, look at them clouds rolling in."
"Yep, it's getting set to rain like a cow pissing on a flat rock!"
