Ever since I began watching Ghost Adventures and paranormal shows on TV, I have always wanted to go on a ghost hunt, or haunt.
I got that opportunity on Aug 31, when my husband and I went to Gettysburg for our Anniversary, first of all I picked a tour that got us INSIDE the building, not just outside, and they have exclusive rights to get us in, the tickets were a bit on the pricy side but it was worth it.
We got to use all the fun toys, Fleer cameras, thermal imaging devices, recorders, dousing rods, spirit boxes etc....
we could tell that there were spirits there, but as the evening neared the end about 1pm a group of us (about half) sat in a room with the spirit box on, and we sat there talking to a spirit, it wasn't much at first but our guides came in and joined us, and then another group in the tour joined us, and for about 30 minutes, maybe a bit more we were communitcating with a spirit....It was a bit hard to understand and there was someone in the group that the spirit was uncomfortable with, my husband thinks it was him.....not sure
We had the most success with the dousing rods.
very little succes in the POW confinement.
But in sitting in a room, in the dark with the spirit box and us communicating with someone was just beyond the kewlness factor. I totally can not wait to go back on another one. To take someone other than my husband with me, to see if we can communicate with something once again beyond the realm of this earth.
The Hoffman House was turned into a civil war hospital, mainly because it's proximity to the battlefield, many people died there, and the history goes beyond that. When we go on a ghost tour we are told that we are not going to see all the activity we see on the show, because they are often there longer than just a few hours often over several days and maybe even a week or 2, and then consolidate information to fit into a half hour or hour show.
I feel very very fortunate, to have had the experience we did have, and to walk away with not just a memory but an experience with my husband.
Ironically there was another couple there celebrating their anniversary.....
It was something I did on impulse but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Hopefully very very soon in the near future.......
Until my next adventure.
