Miley Cyrus continues to be a magnet for internet haters. This time, they're mad as hell that she broke her own Vevo record with her new "Wrecking Ball" video. They're saying she went nude on the video only to break that record. And true to form, some of the more seriously misogynistic prudes couldn't resist making crude and utterly ridiculous jokes about Miley's nudity being a health risk on the video set. The insulting and exceedingly stupid implication was that by sitting naked on the wrecking ball, La Cyrus might somehow make it an "unclean" instrument that could somehow spread STDs.
"The health and safety implications in Miley Cyrus's 'Wrecking Ball' video are ferocious," one hater wrote elliptically. Right.
A second Cyrus anti-fan was more straightforward and more blatantly insulting.
'"I really hope they cleaned that wrecking ball in Miley's new video," she wrote. "For the wrecking ball's sake."
Yes, sadly both those negative tweets were posted by women.
"I bet the only reason Miley's video wrecking ball beat the record was bc everyone heard she was naked in it bye," wrote one non-fan accusingly.
Yet another tweeter who was obviously a rabid Directioner, sneered:
"MILEY BROKE THE RECORD OMFG. Well yeah if one direction were swinging naked on a wrecking ball they'd get 3726272686 views too."
One Direction swinging naked on a wrecking ball--? Well, maybe. But it might depend on which One Direction guy was sitting in front and in what position. Whatever.
So, there you have it. The controversy continues, and it shows no signs of slowing down. What do you think about Miley Cyrus's new video. Did she go naked just to break her own record? Or was her nudity an expression of her emotional vulnerability as she sang the song.
What do you think?
