On Thursday, the NFL preseason 2013 schedule continues with the Carolina Panthers vs. Baltimore Ravens on live stream and televised coverage. The ESPN site reported that this featured match up will give Cam Newton "his most extensive playing time of the preseason." That could help the Carolina team get things firing on all cylinders as they look to improve upon last season's record. Meanwhile, the Ravens may be looking to see which running backs and other roster members they'll be using most in the coming season.
The NFL preseason live streaming and TV game gets started at 8PM EST on Thursday night, with ESPN showing it on cable or satellite. They'll also have it live streaming on their WatchESPN/ESPN3 broadband sports network for viewers wanting to watch the game online. The game will take place at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland.
Several receivers have been reported as unexpected to play in tonight's game for Carolina. They'll include Armanti Edwards, Domenik Hixon and Joe Adams. Tedd Ginn Jr. and David Gettis will step up to get some increased playing time. The same goes for Garry Williams who will need a "strong showing" according to reports, or Carolina could look for a veteran to replace him.
Baltimore will continue to test out their running backs, to figure out who will best back up start Ray Rice. The team just orchestrated a trade, sending their wide receiver David Reed to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for Delone Carter, a third-year running back. Yahoo! Sports reported on the trade Wednesday, indicating that it's unlikely Reed would have made their final cut for the roster, which needs to be trimmed to 53.
The Baltimore Ravens are still the defending Super Bowl Champions, and many believe they could be among the teams to beat this coming 2013-14 NFL season. As for the Carolina Panthers, they finished last season with a record of
7-9 overall and second to the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC South. In the NFC, no playoff team last season had a record worse than 10-6 overall, so there is at least a 3 game improvement possibly need for Carolina this year, depending how other teams look. Carolina last was in the playoffs in 2008, their fourth time overall. Of course they'd love to repeat the near Super Bowl championship success the team had back in 2004, so they've got their work cut out for them this season.
