Dominique lazily awoke and pulled back the curtain on her four poster bed to allow in some sunshine.
This was her first day, of a month long vacation, and It was long overdue. Being an Interior decorator it took quite some finagling, and schedule changing, to satisfy her clients and herself too.
Noticing the dark chocolate kiss with the note under it on Stefan’s Pillow beside her she smiled .Yes she had married the most thoughtful and romantic man in the world!
The Rich dark chocolate melted slowly in her mouth. She read the note. "l be back by sunset, my love. Surprise! Have our bags packed. Tomorrow morning we will be in New Orleans. You will be awoken by the aroma of fine chicory coffee, and beignet ,on the balcony overlooking Jackson Square. Our apartment is finally finished and awaits us!
Finally she could see the apartment refurbished after the hurricane! Stefan had insisted on doing all the work himself even though I am a interior decorator. Well It will be perfect and if not she will make him think it is and change it ever so slowly.
Getting out of the hustle and bustle of Miami beach will be a welcome change ...not that she didn't love the beach home. It was a fact Stefan loved being in New Orleans more than anywhere else and she was growing to love it more each visit. His clinic helping the poor get the plastic surgery they needed was so much in his heart rather than the clients that wished to look young at fifty!
They have a good marriage, and have for close to twentyyears! Recalling the first few years when they both were in the end of there studies were difficult financially but it seemed better that they had gone through it, It made the good life thy have now mean more, as well as have them understand the pitfalls of life so well they enjoyed helping others.
Most would be upset when finding out you really didn't have to struggle, that your husband was worth a small fortune would be upset, but not Dominique she laughed and said "The lean years were great and it brought us closer together than anything money could buy would have."
That year was the first they spent a summer in New Orleans, and she fell in love with the quaintness of it. She could see her self happy here, but wanted desperately to make a name for herself in the Interior design industry first. Without his money, she wanted to do it on her own.
It seemed months turned into years and they were still commuting , now spending almost half the year in each place. Stefan would fly there for emergency surgery at least three time in the months they were in Miami. And this last year she ha o fly there also for a client or two! Smiling she thought about the sparkle it would bring to his eyes when she told him she was ready to move to New Orleans permanently.
