On MSNBC's Hardball Monday, host Chris Matthews said the Boston bombers' political ideology isn't all that important.
Presumably, Chris doesn't seem to care that Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev were inspired by a radical form of Islam. Would he be so blase, if the suspects were "right-wing" militia members? Probably not!
Good old biased Chris, was positing last week that the bombers were likely conservatives, who picked April 15 because it was Tax Day and Patriots' Day. The Hardball commentator made these accusations without any evidence, but the MSNBC star never lets facts get in the way of a good story.
Once it emerged the Tsarnaev brothers subscribed to a radical interpretation if Islam, and were not Tea Party members from Michigan, Matthews immediately started backpedaling. He's now saying their motives are irrelevant.
"Why is that important to -- is that important to prosecuting? I mean, what difference does it make why they did it if they did it?" Matthews remarked to his guest, FBI profiler Clint Van Zandt.
Chris, buddy, if you don't understand their motives, how are going to anticipate future terrorist attacks? You can watch the entire exchange here.
