Germany Bookstores And Libraries Losing Ground To Internet E-Book Sales

Publishing houses in Germany are becoming obsolete, sources say. Germany has a substantial portion of its revenue generated from paper book sales, but in the age of the Internet, it seems the practice of reading paper books is coming to a close.

11% of German's readership is reading electronic books, and this number is growing by the day. For the last five years, the decline in library patronism has reached new levels. With companies like Amazon and others leading the way in E-book sales, Germany has little hope to maintain control of losing library patrons.

Amazon.com is becoming one of the biggest sellers of E-books in the world. There's also Clickbank of course, and they do sell a large amount of educational material in the form of E-books, but Amazon.com has the market share strength to really make it happen. Since the Internet started taking off over the course of recent years, E-books have become increasingly popular.

They're cheap, they can be packed with great information, and in a dynamically changing society of electronic goods and Internet revolution, E-books have become a much better alternative to paper varieties. One thing's for sure, the future of paper books is looking grim indeed.  Especially since the Kindle and Kindle Fire E-book readers are becoming so popular.

It was bound to happen, though, and people shouldn't be surprised that library patronage will dwindle to unprecedented lows in the coming years due to the instant access to information provided by Internet access.
