Rascal and Spike are adjusting to normal life again, Rascal's starting to act a little more like her usual self & well as for Spike he hasn't particularly changed. Spike is still a horny little devil. OJ has been totally unfazed by the events of Rascal giving birth & having her only kitten die within 4 days of birth. OJ is an outdoor cat we often refer to as the Bottomless Pit since he loves to eat and can eat a lot of food.
Rascal is still not eating quite as much as she used to and she never has been one to eat a lot in a day's time, Spike eats more and always has than Rascal.
Rascal is enjoying the extra attention we are giving her & the extra cat nip, we have held onto the kitten's unused formula powder as a back up in case she won't eat anything else. Basically if she thinks she's stealing it she'll eat a little bit.
Both cats enjoy running through the house chasing each other and making funny noises at each other, Rascal's tolerating Spike being anywhere near her pretty well for the most part, at times though she lets him know (not that he listens) that she wants a little space. We're trying to keep a close eye on them when they're playing cause we don't want more kittens just yet. Our vet suggested allowing Rascal & Spike to mate in a few months after Rascal's had some time to heal & mourn the loss of her baby that although she didn't have all her maternal instincts to start with it was still her baby.
We haven't decided yet whether we're going to allow them to mate, we're hoping to get Spike neutered ASAP but that's all depending on whether the State of IL has any more funds for the low-cost program for low-income people to get their pets spayed/neutered.
The kitten we called Chance Ras-Pik was cute, had some coloring and markings from both parents.
We love our cats and we love to spoil them. They may be brats but that's a cat for you, they sometimes remind me of a 2 yr old that gets into everything and anything & makes you wonder what they're up to when it's quiet in the house, especially if both Rascal & Spike are quiet, than we really have to worry about what they're up to cause more often than not they're up to no good when they're both too quiet.
