Rand Paul took to the floor of the Senate just before noon EST. He is engaging in a good old fashioned filibuster. He said He will filibuster the senate in regards to John O. Brennan, whom President Obama has nominated to be the next CIA director until he loses his voice or gets more real information on Obama's drone execution program, which has become a major sore point for many lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
“I will speak today until the president responds and says, ‘No, we won’t kill Americans in cafes. No, we won’t kill you at home at night,’” Mr. Paul said early on in the filibuster, that began at 11:47 and showed no signs of slowing more than four hours later.
He did get an assist during the talkathon for about an hour from Republican Sens. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, two ideological allies who took some of the pressure off by asking long questions of Mr. Paul, using up time that let him preserve his voice. Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden also came to the floor to take part in Mr. Paul’s effort. God Bless these Statesmen!
This old-style hold-the-floor filibuster has brought tears to my eyes. I am almost overwhelmed that finally someone is fighting for the people! Thank you Rand Paul and thank you Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Ron Wyden for helping Mr. Paul in his endeavor to stand up for the Constitutional rights of the people! The Spirit of American Freedom is waking up!!

I'm ashamed to say that I had forgotten all about the Drones. I don't get CSPAN or any cable network, just the regular NBC, ABC and CBS news channels and I haven't been paying attention lately. I think the president is in a get even mood right now and this program just isn't a good one to have in the hands of a man angry at the congress. The more I hear about the president the more that I realize that my fear of him is justified because I can't do anything about the situation only congress can. Woo Hoo for Rand Paul.

I rarely come to Gather simply because I see the worst examples of self proclaimed conservatives in the country. You don't talk about issues you talk idiocy.
Our Constitution says we have a right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty and to have a trial before a jury of out peers. That is our constitutional right as American citizens. When Obama can just say I don't like that guy He is a terrorist and sign a kill order to murder an American citizen it is a denial of our due process.
No I don't and every president has the capacity to do this.
What I want are the Republicans to do something constructive. This is not.
I am a conservative I do not like Obama however I dislike this nonsense more.
Fillibustering is not the way to go about this. It makes conservatives look like idiots.
He would do better to point out with facts why he wants this confirmation blocked.
Not all who wander are lost b., Obama and Holder have said it is lawful to kill Americans in our own country with these drones with out following due process guaranteed by the constitution. That is a lie! They are violating the right to due process as explained above. Apparently you need to read the constitution before saying that this does not violate due process. Then maybe you would understand what we are talking about.
No - NOT every president has had this ability.
NO POTUS has ever had the right to kill US citizens without a tiral, conviction, and chance for appeal.
This is a totally new grant of power, that is incredible, outrageous, unprecendented, and unconstitutional!
Even John Wilkes Boothe had to stand trial - so did Benedict Arnoold, and the Rosenbergs.
How can you possibly call yourself a conservative, and yet support the very people that want this power to lie in the hands of one man?
Real courage would be to offer solutions.
OK, now what then is the solution ? You cannot use "what if" and i"t would be nice" or "dance on streets made of gumdrops", reality is tough and filibuster is one way of doing it.
