We recently had a field trip to Holiday Park, which is the home of the Gator Boys TV show that is on Animal Planet. My husband required my girls to write a story about our day. So, this is my 11 year old's story, unedited other than adding the pictures and taking out last names.
Our Trip to the Gator Boys

Yesterday we went to a field trip Holiday Park in the Everglades, home of the Gator Boys. We had a bunch of friends come with us! Rachel, Julia, Sarah, Emily, and their little boy Matthew were some of the people there. We also had Hannah and her mom Carole. Once everyone was there, we got ready for a forty minute airboat ride!

The airboat was covered, so we didn’t get all that much wind. Hannah and I were sitting all the way in the back, where the engines were so it was really, really loud. But it was really fun because I was sitting on the edge where I could stick my head out the side and get all the wind. We didn’t see many gators because it was cold out, but we did see a few. There was one named Speedy that the man driving the boat could actually call her name and she would come to him.

After the boat ride, we went inside for the alligator show where we met Jimmy’s brother, Andy. Rachel and Hannah’s faces were ecstatic. They couldn’t wait to get his autograph and pictures. Once the gator show was over, we got to hold a little (ok maybe not THAT little) baby alligator that they brought out.

All the kids got their pictures taken with him and the gator. Even though we brought lunch, we ended up buying it. Dad got the “Everglades Platter” which included fries, gator bites, and (ick) frog legs. The gator bites tasted like chicken, but saltier (probably from all that swimming). I wouldn’t try the frog legs. They looked too nasty. I’m not even going to bring up how nasty and mean those birds were! They’ll snatch food right out of your hands! After lunch, a couple of other girls and I watched the next gator show through the slats of the gate. One the girls spotted Scott, another gator boy. When he came up he said he could here everyone one saying
“There’s Scott!” Once everyone got there autographs and pictures, we took one last group photo and headed home.
