Say it isn't so! Julie Marie Berman has confirmed that she is leaving the beloved soap that she has called home since 2005. She plays the role of Lulu Spencer Falconeri, daughter of the famous Luke and Laura Spencer, on General Hospital. Berman first broke the news to ABC Soaps in Depth on her exit in an upcoming issue, but the news leaked out earlier than expected.
Today, the blonde soap star confirmed the news herself on her Twitter
account. She said, "Hi everyone...yesterday was one of the hardest days of my life. It hurts to let go of Lulu. Thank u for letting me into ur homes & hearts. X." February 26 was her last day of taping and it sounds like it was quite an emotional time for the actress.
Berman was a great casting choice when she first came to the show as she has similarities to both TV parents, Genie Francis, and Tony Geary. Her feisty character has grown up on the daytime drama into a now married woman who is expecting a baby via a surrogate mother, which is her best friend Maxie.
There is speculation that there will be a recast. This will be an especially tough time with this particular storyline. The actress that will take over her character will sure have some big shoes to fill. Berman is well loved by many fans and will be missed.
Be sure to read the full interview in ABC Soaps in Depth coming out on newsstands on March 4.
