When Dancing with the Stars 2013 premieres next month, at least one popular pro not named Maksim Chmerkovskiy won't be on-hand to hoof it for America's votes. And apparently, skipping season 16 wasn't the tiny dancer's choice.
TMZ's camera caught up with plucky blonde fan-favorite Chelsie Hightower outside LAX on February 23. After being asked about her plans for the upcoming season, she accidentally revealed the surprising news that she hadn't been asked back—and that it wasn't her choice. She immediately seemed to regret spilling the beans, but didn't go back on what she said.
So why would Chelsie, who was most recently partnered with Helio Castroneves on last Fall's All-Star edition, be left off the roster? Could newcomer Lindsay Arnold—who, like Chelsie, appeared on SYTYCD—have something to do with it? Could producers be deliberately limiting the number of reality TV-born pros hitting the ballroom this season? Or maybe the cast simply doesn't include a celebrity hopeful for whom she'd be a good match. It's hard to understand their motivations, but fans will no doubt miss her this go-round.
The Dancing with the Stars 2013 celebrity cast list will be released during the February 26 edition of Good Morning America.
