Vacation Plans, 2013

My husband and I are hoping to take a “real’ vacation this year. When the kids were small vacations and even now most vacations are spent staying with family. This year we hope to combine the two. We are going to New York City (staying with family) for a few days and then drive on up to Maine.

I’ve always wanted to go to Maine, especially when the heat here in South Carolina becomes unbearable. We’ve narrowed down the time frame (middle two weeks in July), the destination, Bar Harbor, Maine, and will be staying in a cabin rather than a hotel. I like the idea of staying in a cabin near the beach but the fact that it’s cheaper is a factor.

We have a lot more planning to do, but we’ve started. Have you started making vacation plans? Where are you going? What’s on the agenda?

We are planning to go to Las Vegas in June. We go there fairly often, but this time we are going to drive and meander our way back checking out some of the national parks like Zion and Bryce. Haven't really started the serious planning yet - just the basic idea. Next year (2014) we are going to go to New York in the May time-frame. I am already looking into options for where to stay and it seems a vacation rental home is better (cheaper and bigger) than two hotel rooms. It's fun to start researching and getting ideas!

Sounds great. I went to Maine as a child.. but haven't had many vacations as an adult.

I'm going to Walt Disney World in November again. I booked the trip last month. I still need to book my flight. I have time. I'm going home to PA for a week the end of July / beginning of August.

Bar Harbor is nice. I highly recommend a whale watch cruise.

I would love to go to Disney World. We will one day. On our trip to Maine whale watching is on the agenda.

Sounds great! Never been that far north on the East Coast, but would love to-- anywhere near the beach is good with me! I am hoping to go back to Mexico this summer, I would have to go it alone so I am still doing a lot of debating.

Not really any plans right now. I doubt that we will be able to do more than a long weekend. Keith does not have any vacation days saved up yet. Your trip sounds fun. I have always wanted to go to Maine as well.
