The Fifty Shades of Grey casting frenzy is heating up. The latest buzz on the fan sites is that Lucy Hale has replaced Emma Watson as the frontrunner for the role of Christian Grey's sex slave Anastasia Steele. There's also talk that the Pretty Little Liars star may sing on the movie's soundtrack.
Emma Watson has long been a fan favorite to play Ana. The Perks of Being a Wallflower star is the right age to play Mr. Grey's clueless virgin. And although some 50 Shades fans seem to doubt "she has the ability to pull off the sexual role," she has come a long way since her tenure in the Harry Potter franchise. However, now it seems that La Watson may not get the chance to prove her haters wrong, because Lucy Hale has recently come from behind and left her face down in the dust.
According to her fans, Hale's sterling performances in Pretty Little Liars prove that she can carry a big screen movie. Furthermore, La Hale has "that naive look about her, while also being sexy at the same time." Although she will have to beat out stiff competition from such luminaries as Alexis Bledel, Jennifer Lawrence, and Ian Somerhalder's lady-love Nina Dobrev, Hale's newfound status as a fan favorite may just garner her the coveted role. Plus, unlike the other contenders, Lucy Hale could also actually sing on the Fifty Shades of Grey movie soundtrack.
So, there you have it. You can hear a sample of Hale's vocalizing talents on the video below. What do you think?
