Week 4 Update.

   Well another week has almost passed.  The blizzard hit here about 2 hours ago so the Cancer Center has given me a 3 day weekend.  They will just tack on any days I miss on the end of the 7 weeks.  I'm not doing to bad right now.  The hair has started to shed but my girls have bought me several scarves already so I'm prepared for it.

  I made it to Alana's spelling bee last Saturday.  She didn't win but she did very well and was so happy I was there.  That was the important thing not to disappoint her.

  Kelli flew in from Italy this past Friday and sent Felicia home for the week.  It gave her time to get her taxes done and spend time with her family.  Felicia came back today just as the storm hit and if she can get out Kelli will go back to Italy Saturday morning.  She will be back in 40 days when they have spring break.

   They are taking very good care of me and when I have a rough day I really appreciate it.  I'm finally getting my mail so that problem is solved.

  I'm trying to view a few posts everday or so but can't be on very long.

Hi Nancy! So glad to see you post.....I've been thinking about you a lot lately and wondering how things have been going........I continue to keep you in my prayers.......you WILL beat the "crap," I just know you will!!!
Our "blizzard" (according to our weather people) is one inch of snow here so far.......LOL!!! It truly IS funny, as all our public schools let out way early (there was NO snow, it hadn't even started!), people were let off work early, as well.........and yet, now just one inch of the white stuff.......just ridiculous; however, I am extremely thankful that this is ALL we have! Nobody around here likes the white stuff at all....I keep wishing for spring every day!!!!!

Thanks Nora. The blizzard calmed down about midnight and this morning most of the streets were clear so I went for my treatment after all. I've always loved the snow and I know how much we need it but like you I'm wishing for spring to hurry.

I think Spring tends to put us ALL in a much better mood.......LOL!!!!! Glad to hear that you were able to make it for your treatment after all. It's really "silly," but here where we live, we only got 3" of the white stuff......yet, today, our "remarkable" city trucks have been up and down our side street at least 4 to 6 times, "blading" the streets.....say whaaaaaat? For just 3 inches of the stuff? Incredible! Here on our side of the city, we got the very least amount of snow, so we're all pretty happy.......we can deal with 3 inches!!!!!!

I am glad they brought you some scarves. There are some programs that offer wigs to cancer patients. Does your area have one?

You are in my thoughts. Please keep us updated. You do have a lot of friends here in the Gather community

Thanks Connie. Gather is such a special place for good people. Yes they have a wig program here. I haven't checked it out yet but I might soon.

you don't have to worry about viewing anything just letting us know how your doing
is more than enough, Hair will grow back pretty fast when you complete the chemo
sometimes getting a really short hair cut before it starts coming out helps with the shock factor. We are all saying a prayer for you

Thanks Bob. The doc called me one tough lady because I'm handling the mega dose of chemo without getting most of the side effects. He says he always has to lower the dosage by this time but not for me. Had my 5th chemo today and only 2 more to go.

You are in my daily prayers, Nancy. It sounds like you have a positive attitude. Check to see if you can get one of those soft fleece caps. The cancer unit at our hospital sells them for $2 each, just to cover the cost of the material. They're made by volunteers, so they're full of love. My aunt had a wig, but she loved the comfort of the caps and wore them every day.

My girls got me a fleece cap from the center to wear at night. I like it. I have 5 other caps of different styles that I need to try and see if I'm comfortable in them.

Nancy, I was pleased to see your progress report. I was wondering how you were doing. I've been busy taking a friend to multiple visits for treatment of a kidney stone, and haven't had a lot of time to be on Gather.

I'm also glad you have loving people assisting you. My thoughts surround you.

I feel so bad for your friend Verie. Kidney stones are so very painful. I can't get on much either. Someone else is always on it or I'm just to tired to care. I go back home in 3 weeks and I'll have my own computer when I feel up to it.
