Football star Tim Tebow was slated to appear at First Baptist Church of Dallas in April, but has now canceled that appearance. The church is led by controversial hate monger Dr. Robert Jeffress, who has been outspoken against several minority and religious groups.
In a series of tweets earlier this morning, Tebow wrote:
While I was looking forward to sharing a message of hope and Christ's unconditional love with the faithful members of the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas in April, due to new information that has been brought to my attention, I have decided to cancel my upcoming appearance. I will continue to use the platform God has blessed me with to bring Faith, Hope and Love to all those needing a brighter day. Thank you for all of your love and support. God Bless
Tebow was most likely responding to Jeffress' message of hate against homosexuals, Catholics, Jews, Mormons, and Muslims. It's inexplicable as to why Tebow even agreed to appear at FBCD in the first place.
Jeffress doesn't seem to be upset by Tim Tebow's cancellation, and has doubled down on his remarks. He believes that what he is teaching is the "counsel of God," and not hate. He believes that it's his job to preach the truth, not things that others deem politically correct. The problem with this assumption is that what he considers the truth, other Christians consider it nothing more than hate.
Here's a fact: the Holy Bible was written by a bunch of old men hundreds of years after Jesus' death. Before that, who's to say that the Messiah even existed? In fact, the story of Jesus corresponds to several other messiah legends that came before. Jesus is simply the most recent incarnation of saviors, whose births, lives, messages, and deaths, have been nearly the same throughout a few millennia.
So, the fact that Jeffress is preaching from a book written by a bunch of cranky old men, coupled with the fact that he uses the veil of religion to spew his own special kind of hate, just proves that he is no better than those extremist Muslim imams who preach hate against Christians. Hey, they're just teaching the word of God, right?
