What Are We Celebrating Today ---- Thusday, February 21, 2013?

Pher's surgery has been postponed. It will be in March now, hopefully. It's still such a mess...and now Pher has 2 doctor appointments on Friday. This should determine IF he actually CAN have the surgery. GRR!

I talked with Connie last night for a while. She probably thinks I'm nuts....but I can make her laugh....not sure if that's good or bad though. :)

So....what are we celebrating today....

1). Card Reading Day: Hmm... I'd say this is probably a Hallmark Holiday, as it does encourage you to send and read cards, but I'm not 100% sure that's the kind of cards it means. It could mean Tarot cards or regular cards. I guess take this one any way you want to. If you get a Tarot card reading, then let the rest of us know how it turned out please.

2). International Mother Language Day: This is the day to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. This holiday actually has a wikipedia entry, so if you want to know more, go HERE.

3). Introduce A Girl to Engineering Day: Today, women engineers, along with their male counterparts, will engage and mentor as many as one million girls around the country during National Engineers Week Foundation’s 12th Annual Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. This empowering day is packed with workshops, lab tours, on-line discussions and interactive, hands-on activities at businesses, universities, libraries and other venues across the country. I'll have to ask both my brother and SIL if their companies are participating, as both are engineers (different types though).

4). National Sticky Bun Day: Yum! My family will want to celebrate this one, and I bet Angela would be happy to make a few sticky buns. German settlers created "schnecken," the original sticky bun. Sticky buns are similar to cinnamon buns but usually have a clear glaze not cream cheese or white glaze.
