Unsubstantiated rumors that Reeva Steenkamp was carrying a baby, when Oscar Pistorius shot her to death inside their posh Pretoria home, are now all over the Internet. If this new information is credible, it would certainly place this sad incident in a whole new perspective.
As it stands now, things are already not looking rosy for the South African double amputee Olympic runner known as "Blade Runner". A few years ago, the Olympian had a brush with the law, concerning another domestic incident involving a woman. That case was dropped, but to the authorities, it represents a history of violence against females.
Either version of events is entirely believable. Police say Oscar Pistorius deliberately gunned down Reeva Steenkamp in cold blood, while he maintains that he thought burglars were in the house. It doesn't strain credulity, to believe that someone with no legs would be scared out of their wits during a home invasion. For his part, Pistorius' attorney Barry Roux is saying the prosecution lacks the evidence needed for a murder charge.
Clearly, prosecutors know more than they are letting on about the shooting last week, because the charges were just boosted to premeditated murder. Do authorities have proof that Reeva was carrying a child when she died? Are more charges coming? Although details about the Steenkamp pregnancy rumors are sparse, more information should trickle out over the next few days.
