What Are We Celebrating Today -- Wednesday, February 20, 2013?

We're back to playing phone tag and waiting games with the doctors and scheduler. I have a feeling Pher's surgery will be postponed at least a week, maybe more. I would actually like it to be done spring break, as he would have more time to recover. That's why we really wanted it down during Christmas break.

So...what are we celebrating today....

1). Cherry Pie Day: Yum! I LOVE cherry pie (okay, so I just most kinds of pie). Cherry pie is America's second most popular pie, behind only apple pie in popularity. As a young boy, George Washington made the Cherry tree popular, with his supposed famous quote "I can not tell a lie, I chopped down the Cherry tree." We celebrate George Washington's Birthday and President's Day in February. so appropriately, its traditional to bake cherry pies in honor of the occasion.

2). Northern Hemisphere Hoodie-Hoo Day: I have to say that I love this one, and I'll have to try it. On this winter day, people go out at noon, wave their hands over their heads and chant "Hoodie-Hoo". It is a day to chase away winter and bring in spring.....and let all the neighbors know you're nuts. LOL My neighbors already think I'm nuts I bet...

3). World Day for Social Justice: The United Nations' (UN) World Day of Social Justice is annually observed on February 20 to encourage people to look at how social justice affects poverty eradication. It also focuses on the goal of achieving full employment and support for social integration. The General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed this day World Day for Social Justice in November 2007.

4). Love Your Pet Day: Love Your Pet Day is day to pamper your pet. People just love their pets, and today is an easy excuse to spend time with them, and to give them special treats. Whether its a dog, a cat, a fish, a pet snake, or your pet rock......give them lots of love and attention today. I think Lily feels every day is love your pet day though. LOL. I hope you see this Champ, as your human should be giving you extra treats....
