To Ride a Horse is to Ride the Sky
Â
To ride a horse is to ride the sky ~
One must look into its eye,
Run one hand along its mane,
And with a steady hand to reign,
Mount with grace and balanced ply~
To ride a horse is to ride the sky.
Â
To ride a horse is to ride the sky,
To call down the stars of the pegasi.
Upon noble wings, and as heroes, we fly
To the grandest escapades of you and of I...
To reclaim the union of a time gone by ~
To ride a horse is to ride the sky.
To ride a horse is to ride the sky,
To bolt across fields of emerald rye,
Upon drumming hooves of equine might,
in a charge of luck and unbridled flight...
All in the blink of a yearling's eye ~
To ride a horse is to ride the sky.
To ride a horse is to ride the sky,
Through misty weald, through desert dry;
The undulant dance of rider and steed,
When both their souls are concurrently freed,
Is a sight as wondrous as none can deny ~
To ride a horse is to ride the sky.
To ride a horse is to ride the sky,
Be it as red as dusk in July,
As golden as the sun on an aureate morning
As white as blizzard that comes without warning
As black as the night with no stars to steer by...
To ride a horse is to ride the sky.

I look forward to reading your work, because your work uplifts me.
Your spirit soars. Here and in all your works.
Horses are wonderful animals. I love the first stanza in which you describe in detail how one should mount a horse.
I agree with Kathryn - your work is uplifting.
Thank you for sharing and submitting to

I appreciate your comment very much.
I thank you, Chris. I so appreciate the comment.
With limbs, cling tight as you fly through the air, the pounding hooves your heartbeat...equine scent of skin exciting as you lay head low, united, horse and rider, spirits freed to be...
Loved this, my friend... Your words are skillfully chosen and perfectly placed so that we, too, fly through the heavens...

Outside of time, beyond the confines of Time.
But, all kidding aside, I do appreciate these words of kind veneration for this old-fashioned gentleman that just keeps getting older and older all the time.
Luv ya, both.
a poem worth honor in Poetry magazine, written by a poet that is more than he seems...Bravo, Mustafa...and the picture is perfect

And thank you, Veronica... Very nice of you.
Mindful Poetry has covered fifty-three forms. Almost all of them involve some degree of repetition. The Chant form takes repeating to a higher level as you’ve shown here. Thank you for submitting to our group. This poem is featured.
There IS a kind of a range of flavours in words and I had once written a poem dedicated entirely to this idea.... Favourite Things
I am not so bold nor brave to believe I did anything more to prompt this (or any of your) poem(s) than point my finger at the building blocks.
Another enchanting chant poem is now featured on Poet's Weekly Muse!
I recently took a class in Shamanic Journeying and am reading more about shamanism...check out my recent Gather "blog"...and I will soon take a course of "Ancient Wisdom" as well.
That is really so very interesting about the power animals... I wonder how one goes about determining which they are... I would really would be curious to know, however, if it involves taking peyote, I would just as soon remain ignorant to them.
I would love to see what you come up with for a poem exploring this subject.
This poem here, an immersion into horse and sky, from every angle so rich with earthy sensations elevated and colored with spiritual wisdom. It's always such a pleasure to read your work. I'm wondering... some of your poems will have one stanza with a simple font different than the rest. I haven't figured out the significance of this... is there a subtle point being made here?
Dear Ann, to address your comments and questions; first, let me thank you for the lovely comment... and you're right, I am fond of foxes. I love this illustration that I have been using for an icon, because it seems to me a creature that has triumphed over its baser nature and managed to cultivate something noble in itself. There are so many animals that I am fond of, and each of them for different reasons... I agree with you, if there be power animals, then it must be the ones we carry an affinity for.
Oh, and regarding the differences in the font... sometimes I start a poem one day, wind up unable to finish it, then start again, or as is the case with this one,
I wrote the last four stanzas first, and, a day later, decided to add the first stanza... forgetting to change the font.
I so appreciate your discerning eye, and brilliant mind... you are such a dear friend.
No matter what you write, my immensely dignified friend, it always carries with it a quiet nobility, an understated refinement pulsing through its regal veins. This work is no different - it's a fabulous tribute to an irresistibly regal creature that has fired the imagination of artists since time immemorial!
Your poetry has always been great ... your sensibilities are sublime. I'm honoured to be counted amongst your friends here, and feel so blessed to be able to feast my heartseed on this joyous celebration of a poem! You've once again mystically elevated my senses to the realms where all is Light and Love, amigo, the realms I live most of my life in - I'm in your eternal debt!!!!
Muchas Gracias ... and hasta la vista.
In the glorious pastures of our amity ...
Your words have inspired something in me,
And this is what I came to see....
Mariana on a white Andalusian mare,
With the red amaryllis in the flow her hair,
And a brilliance as few may justly compare,
Benevolence and goodwill and plenty to spare.
Salud, my friend.
