50 Shades of Grey movie favorite Henry Cavill has some Fifty fans worried that he won't be interested in playing Christian Grey because of his role as Superman in Man of Steel. However, he wants everyone to know that he's not going to let playing the caped crusader stop him from pursuing the roles that he wants.
Henry was coy about playing Christian when Total
Film asked him if he's interested in becoming the BDSM master, but he didn't say no to the role—he simply wants to see a script first. He's also not afraid of offending the Comic-Con crowd by playing a character that they would probably scoff at. 50 Shades is an erotic novel based on Twilight fan fiction, after all, and geeks hate sparkly vampires. According to 3 News, here's what Henry Cavill said about not letting Man of Steel limit what he does in the future:
"I have a responsibility to kids who believe I'm Superman - absolutely. It's going to be bizarre to see yourself in toy version. I'm excited, don't get me wrong. But I'm being realistic about it. Ultimately, I'm an actor. At the end of the day, I'm not actually Superman and I will play other roles."
So there's still a chance that he'll attempt to get cast in the 50 Shades of Grey movie.
Maybe Henry even has a bit of a kinky side. Christian Grey might not be into the kind of S&M that involves spandex fetish suits, but Henry enjoyed slipping into his super-tight superhero costume. Here's what he told Total Film about it:
"I loved wearing the suit! You put it on every morning and you feel fantastic. I mean, you're wearing a Superman suit for goodness sake! It took the team about 15 minutes each day [to get it on me]. They struggled hard... Let's just say we became very close!"
It's also good to know that Henry is okay with other people getting handsy with him. However, most men probably wouldn't complain about being felt up by whichever brunette actress gets cast as Anastasia Steele.
Henry will have experience playing a dark character that could come in handy if he decides to audition for 50 Shades. According to the actor, his version of Superman isn't going to be cheesy or one-note. Here's how he described the fresh take on the superhero:
"People in the past have criticized the character for being a bit chocolate-box, a bit vanilla, and this is not that - at all."
Henry even uses the word "vanilla" to describe stuff just like Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Hopefully his Superman will be of the chocolate hot fudge brownie variety.
So do you think that Henry will go from battling General Zod to making Ana's inner goddess dance? Or is just too hard to buy the Man of Steel's new kryptonite being Anastasia Steele's lip-biting?
