A Nashville journalist is reporting that Mindy McCready has committed suicide, just days after being released from rehab for a longtime battle with substance abuse.
Stacy McCloud, a longtime reporter for Fox 17 out of Nashville and a source familiar with the country music community, made several references to the former country music star's death Sunday night, with the most recent noting that the suicide, "..has now been confirmed from 4 different sources. A statement from the family is in the works."
Despite her rise to stardom with the mid-nineties album, Ten Thousand Angels, McCready has led a troubled past and fought a longstanding battle with addiction. Though she underwent several stints in rehab, the most recent having concluded just last week. The lasting effects of her addiction and the effect it had on her ability to keep custody of her daughter ultimately got the better of McCready.
May Mindy McCready find peace at last, and may her family and those close to her find the comfort they deserve in this trying time.
