Johnny’s off to chase a rainbow
Searching for the pot of gold
Easy way for him to gain dough
From the stories he’d been told
Running through the bramble cane row
Stubbed his toe and down he rolled
He’d ignore the awful pain though
Searching for the pot of gold
Sun comes out and there’s no rainbow
Trail for pot of gold runs cold
Empty handed, now in pain, so
Back to work ‘till he grows old.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Johnny was chasing a pot
Of gold that he wanted a lot
But while he was joggin'
He fell on his noggin
And dreams of a fortune were shot.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So Johnny was deeply in debt
"There's gold in that rainbow, I bet!"
He ran off to find it
But always behind it
He's chasing that pot of gold yet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Getting rich quickly is easy
You don't even have to be sleazy
There's gold at the end
Of rainbows, my friend
Not really; I'm just being teasy.
Great, silly poem. I love it!
I've always loved the limericks best...although I'm not that clever with them...
