It's NBA All-Star Saturday 2013 with the skilled stars of basketball on display in Houston, TX. This year's NBA Slam Dunk contest will be live streaming and on TV, along with three other events fans won't want to miss. With six dunk competitors hoping to take home the 2013 trophy, it could make for another fun event.
The NBA Dunk Contest live stream will be a part of All-Star Saturday coverage on TNT Overtime. The broadband service presents fans a legitimate way to catch all of the action during tonight's four competitions. The other contests will include a Shooting Stars, Skills Challenge, and Three-Point Shootout. Basically those who just want to watch the dunkers will need to wait through the first three events, or check their TV or online around 9:30 to 10PM EST.
The dunk contest has come under fire in recent years with many claiming the best dunkers don't always enter, and that many of the best dunks have already been done. However, there's usually one or two new "tricks" introduced each year that fans might get excited for. In years past that included Nate Robinson of the NY Knicks "skying" over Spudd Webb for a jam, or Dwight Howard donning a Superman cape. Last year it was Jeremy Evans of the Jazz with an impressive dunk of two basketballs after jumping over a seated helper.
According to SB Nation, Evans returns to this year's field, along with Gerald Green, Terrence Ross, James White, Kenneth Faried and Eric Bledsoe. None of these guys are really household names, but previous dunk contest winners have emerged as stars in the league. Faried won the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge MVP award on Friday night with 40 points and may be ready for a breakout dunk contest win. However the other competitors have been known to throw some vicious jams down as well.
Coverage of NBA All-Star Saturday Night 2013 via TNT and live streaming online feed starts at 8:30PM EST with Shooting Stars, followed by the Skills Challenge, Three-Point Shootout and then the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. Fans will vote to determine the winner in the final event of the night via various online methods or by texting.
