RAYS OF LIGHT!

...each evening for the last few days, the weather report has suggested rain becoming snow and though not alot, enough to cause dangerous road conditions, so I heed and am ready for the possibility since I am on the road before the sun comes up.
But, and it is a good but, each of the last three mornings, although cold enough to cause frost on the windshield, has not progressed from gray skies to that possible rain/snow mix and I am so glad.
I am ready for spring even though there is a great possibility of mud. Through the mud comes the barefeet of infant spring and I am on my knees beckoning that child to me for the huge hug I have ready.
I've seen rabbits in the yard, bustling around in the dark, and making hasty headway toward the nearby woods when I snap on my porch light and rudely interrupt their rabbit activity....All the signs of changing seasons..
Some people are drawn to worship services, accepting redeeming ashes, joining for soup suppers and with each passing week, will progress closer to the entrance of their winter cave mentality to experience the first delicate warmth in the rays of light beaming through the canopy of winter worn trees.
Others are just simply venturing out more..offering themselves to the situation, accepting handshakes from hands extended..replying in kind..enjoying a new air..
Humans are not like the bears, that in hyburnation are satisfied completely as to their winter needs, but instead long for the rubbing of elbows, even though they do not realize just what the matter is and what would fill that need.
Comfy couch, blanket cocooned human bodies must stretch at times, and in the event that a toe touches a floor and the floor feels the slightest bit stable, an entire foot may come out, with a leg following and another, until the human is standing and the blanket is resting on that floor and after a deep breath is taken of air that seems, not so chill, one just might be drawn to a window to be surprised at what beckons in the way of a distant light that will become even brighter.
Winter is but a season among seasons that drives most humans in from out of the chill (except of course those who will always be out in the center of it in benefit to the rest) and during that winter respite we do certain things but I think mostly ponder about what will become of us when the wraps are removed and the doors are open.
Winter seems as an overprotective parent who wills us, "stay beneath the blankets and let it all pass over." Then, as much as the staying is under that winter white, it suddenly becomes the urge of spring that (through its own birth becomes the strength that unfurls the blossom) and a real passion bubbles to the top in the irridescence that explodes from all that has been winter suppressed..
First small rays of light becomes the complexion of this stirring humanity and as all becomes acclimated, a spring blush adorns anew and allows for further stretching to whatever lies ahead....
Each and everyone has his/her own possibilities toward the future and how exciting is that, even as our bare foot continues to test the flooring under the now on which we stand.
