The season premiere of Zero Hour starring ER's Anthony Edwards is finally here and this one has already proved to be complicated, yet draws you into the mystery of the clock and what happened in the past.
The opening goes back to 1938 in Germany where a group of Nazis come crashing into a church where 12 artisans are building beautiful clocks. They flash to a hospital where a baby has been born with no irises in his eyes and is said to be born of no womb. Fearing for their lives, the 12 men are seen running from the church but not
before a crucifix was left behind, which leads the Nazis to their location.
A container is pulled up from the sewer below the church that is said could end mankind if it gets into the wrong hands. One of the Nazi officers is helping the holy men and lets them know the bad men are coming. Viewers have no idea who this special officer is that helps these men. As the holy men are getting away in a truck, the Nazis start shooting the church and everyone in it. Right before he is shot, a priest says that only the 12 can help them.
In present day, Laila, a clock shop owner, is missing. She had called her husband, Hank Galliston, to tell him someone was trying to break into her shop and that's the last he heard from her. Hank's magazine editors, Rachel and Aaron, go back to see if they can help him in any way. The FBI showed up on his door and showed him a surveillance video of his wife being taken by a man called Vincent. He is an international mercenary and very dangerous. Detective Riley wants to know what he would want with Laila.
Later, Hank found a clock that Laila had just bought. He took it apart and found a small diamond inside that shines a treasure map on the wall. They take it to Father Mickie to find out more about it. The priest says that it is written in Rosicrucian language, which is a Christian group that is always preparing for the apocalypse. He also sees New Bartholomew on the map, which shows to be in the Arctic Circle.
Hank gets a call from Vincent and he wants the clock or Laila dies. Father Mickie comes up with a plan to keep the diamond with him for leverage but then Hank gives Vincent the clock. As Hank is heading to the place to meet him, the FBI is tracking him. On the way, Hank realizes that Vincent is not watching him after all just as the Feds storm the place Vincent is supposed to be in. They only find a video camera and nothing else. Hank realizes that Father Mickie is in danger and runs off. He finds the Father lying on the floor bleeding and the diamond is gone. Hank fears the worst for his wife but Rachel convinces him to stay focused and positive so he can find her.
Hanks packs up to head to New Bartholomew. He tells Rachel and Aaron to stay put and to keep on digging for more info. At the airport, Detective Riley, or Beck as she is called, is there, too. She explains why she is invested in Vincent as he is responsible for her husband's death. She is going with him whether he likes it or not. Back at home, Rachel and Aaron find out that the one who made that clock was a 93-year-old German clockmaker. They decide to find him.
Once there, the clockmaker explains that people are looking for it. He also says that New Bartholomew isn't a place, it's a man. He was a Nazi officer that the 12 apostles knew. He goes on to tell Rachel and Aaron that each clock was made for each of the apostles. He also made one for New Bartholomew. They have a secret that has something to do with what they pulled out of the sewer and that the Nazis were after it. The clockmaker said that a storm is coming if it is not found before they do and it is called zero hour.
In Canada, Vincent is sketching something in his mirror and then proceeds to show his white eye, which is the same as the baby long ago. Hank and Beck arrive and get taken by plane to a remote icy area. Vincent went by car instead and is headed to the same place. Hank and Beck find a Nazi submarine in the ice with dead men inside. One of the dead is a man clutching the same crucifix from the past. This is the same Nazi that was a friend to the 12 men. Hank looks closer and discovers that this man is a dead ringer for himself. He runs outside obviously distressed. Outside zooming across the icy tundra is a vehicle that is heading towards them.
