Good News, Bad News & Happy Valentine's Day

My day was kinda bad, but also good.

The Bad news :

My oldest son (picture below) got his last check from Kroger's and took off because he didn't complete he DUI stuff. Hiding out and when his taxes come he is fleeing to Florida. The jerk wrote a note to his little brother and sister and left when I was sleeping and didn't even say good bye or give me a hug. I miss him already and love him very much. I wish him the best. But running I don't think is the answer.

The Good news :

My boyfriend (picture below) got me a small box of chocolates. Only has 4 of them in there and a bottle of tequila rose for Valentine's Day. I put the chocolates up for later when I am doing better with my diet. The tequila rose is in the freezer and I am going to check to see if a small amount will be okay with my diet. Not sure yet. As I am really trying to loose some weight and stay on this diet from the doctor's.

I hope everyone on Gather has 'A Happy Valentine's Day'. Remember you don't have to be with someone to enjoy this day. It is meant to show anyone you love them, not just a reminder to couples to get some romance going. (kids, pets, parents, siblings, friends, significant other, etc.)

And of course I have to say the newest photo of myself. not sure if I want to switch my icon yet or not :

Hi Sandy! Oh no.....what a bummer about your son taking off.........wouldn't he be in much more trouble by doing than than by trying to take care of the DUI stuff? I guess sometimes kids just don't think about that. How neat about your Valentine gifts.........bet that was a surprise!!!!!!!

Yeah, when the courts realize he ran. He will receive additional charges. He was suppose to complete some stuff for his DUI or 30 days in jail. He didn't complete none of it by the agreed date. He is in violation of their agreement. He can get another 30 days, just for that and whatever else changes they may come up with later. So, instead of 30 days. He is looking at 60 days minimum.

Hi Sandy. We so hope and pray that evrything works out for your son. What ashame he thinks the answer is running from the problems. Hopefully at some point, he will 'man up' and see the error of his ways and how luck he is to have such a wonderful Mother and siblings. We will continue to keep everyone in your family in our prayers. What a nice gift from your Valentine too! We always enjoy your postings and thank you for being our friend.

I hope your son realizes it's better to confront the problems than run away. Of course, you love him, you are just disappointed in his poor decision.

How nice to have presents for Valentines! Too bad about your son. This will follow him where ever he goes...

He will be scared until he finishes this. Were there fees, or time to serve that made him run?
He hasn't accomplished anything yet. Just went to court and was suppose to do this 3 day DUI class that cost between 3 and 4 hundred bucks. By the 14th..yep Valentine's day. But for some reason didn't save the money. Nor pay his ex girlfriend all the money he owed for the copay on the insurance. Nor has he given me anything. He put in his two weeks notice telling me he was going to do the 30 days he had hanging over his head if he didn't do the class. He said he was going to pay with his taxes. Well, he filed and is waiting for it to load on card. he picked up his last check today and I Guess he is hiding out somewhere, when it loads he is going to Florida. I seen him for about 10 minutes when he came in this morning when I went and laid down because I was up all night waiting not waiting to miss him leaving, and my medications were making feel like I needed to lie down. i woke up and he had already gone. left a note for his brother and sister. His 12 yr old sister said she isn't mad he left. She is mad he didn't at least stop at the school to say good bye and give her a hug.
He never told me he was skipping out. I had to hear it from others. When I mention something to him about it, he denied it completely. That hurts pretty bad to be lied to like that. Now the cops will come to my house, they will have to do a walk through to look for him, or they will have to get a search warrant. I am going to let them walk through when they finally come as it will be easier on my other 2 kids at home.

Money and time will fix it all, and he knows this. He sounds lost. He sounds afraid. What approach can you take, that will actually reach him?
That I have no idea. Otherwise I would of been able to reacj him by now. When I try to talk to him, he won't listen.

If your son gets stopped for anything, when they run a check they could arest him on the spot... his car will be impounded and he have to pay to get it back. I wish him the best.
He doesn't have a license nor own a vehicle. But I know what you mean. He could be riding with someone else and still get picked up. I guess this is a lesson he will have to learn the hard way.

Good luck to you and your son. No matter what our kids do, we always love them. Sometimes we don't like the decisions, but we still love the kid. Make sure he knows that. Also, I love your photo! Looking good!
He does know I love him. I told him that all the time. i do it to all my kids.

If only he would have stayed. It isn't un fixable. The DUI would cost or he could have worked out terms with the court. Income tax, he will have interest on any monies he owes.
He was not using his head by leaving.

I hope he realizes what a mess he probably will have brought on himself and return. My heart goes out to you... what a rotten day to pick too, to do that... I will pray for him. Sometimes people have to learn the hard way, no matter how hard we try to help.
Yeah, what a way to remember Valentine's day, huh? He sure was only thinking about himself. I hope he does step up and take responsible and stops running. I have been praying and now leave it in God's hands.

My daughter would love your son's Batman stuff... Oh, I guess you have to let your son do what he's going to do, even though it isn't the right thing. He'll have to face the consequences of his actions at some point, and you'll be there to just love him.

Oh, and my husband didn't get me anything for Valentine's Day. Grr!

first of all, i am so sorry to hear about your son......he must be really scared to just run away like that....but, also, i think that he has a lot of growing up to do, and i pray that he will do so, for his sake, and for yours....

it is heartbreaking when we see a child or grandchild doing things like this.....they really know better, as they were not raised like that....but, unfortunately, we cannot conrtol them...sometimes they have to learn the hard way......sometimes i think that the hard way is hardest on their familiy.......my heart goes out to you at this time.....and you are definitely in my thoughts and prayers......

as for the good news you had---i am so glad for you!.......you obviously have a great boy friend......i am glad that you had anice valentine's day....

love is everything......i just wrote about love and valentine's day in a post that is in my spotlight......i would apprecaite it if you would read it if you have te ime

You need to call the police regarding your son. No, it isn't going to make you popular, but he needs to be stopped before he further ruins his life--or shatters someone else's.

DUI is one of those things that my (future) children will know never to do. That falls under the category of "Rather-be-in-jail-than-face-Mom." The same goes for vandalism that is not committed as part of a protest action.
Can't call the police, if I don't know where he is at. All I know is he will end up back in Florida somewhere. BTW...when the warrant is served. They will come to my house looking for him. I will be honest with the cops and tell them what I know. That's all I can do.

Your right, it never solves nothing. He wasn't raised that way. I can't believe he isn't facing up to his responsibilities. Now he has to face the consequence of what he has done.

I think your son will soon discover in this computer age one can not run easily from legal issues. It will eventually catch up to him and a higher price may be paid. I know you miss him and will worry about him. Sometimes our children's problems are things only they can deal with but it does not make us worry any less.
