"Amazing Love" by "K. Dawn Byrd" ~ Book Review by Villageanne

 

I really wanted to read “Amazing Love” by K Dawn Byrd as soon as I read the description. I love a story that has strong female characters that overcome trials. This book definitely did not disappoint. It started out with the main female character having feelings for a handsome small town pastor, while she was a high paid prostitute. This is a Christian book so the plot surprised me a bit but it quickly took a direction that was unpredictable. It was so unpredictable that I never knew what was going to happen from one chapter to the next. Most Christian fiction is predictable. Granted, I knew it would have a happy ending but the twists and turns in this story was like driving on a steep, curvy country road. It was an amazing journey.

 

I loved the authors unusual style of writing about child abuse, sexual abuse and prostitution as it is in todays society.  She managed to  add in a pastor who makes choices that gives the community gossips plenty to talk about.  I loved the real-to-life characters and how they each represented society today. It started out with a bang and ended the same way. I was into the story from page one until it ended. I had never read anything by this author before. I will be reading more of her books.

 

What I really liked was the fact that each character was strong. The pastor followed the promptings of the Spirit even when it took him out of his comfort zone and into the gossip tree of the community. The female character was abused as child and grew to feel unworthy to the point that she thought she had to be a prostitute to be loved.  It is amazing as she finds that she has an eternal destiny in spite of what she has done.

 

I loved this book and give it a 5 star. I would recommend it to my friends.
