Last weekend of work for a while. It will be nice to have a couple of weekends off, as one is Angela's first dance competition of the year....but I need the money.
So...what are we celebrating...
1). Toothache Day: It seems Larry H. is already celebrating this one. There's a lot of bizarre holidays, and they celebrate funny or silly or strange events. But why someone would want to celebrate a toothache? I bet a dentist had to come up with this, afterall, toothaches keep him in business. I will NOT be celebrating this one today....though I did find a website where you an send a free ecard. http://www.care2.com/send/categories/Toothache_Day
2). Read in the Bathtub Day: I love this one! I can celebrate this one and enjoy it! I found that there is even a facebook page dedicated to this day....how funny is that? If you are worried about getting your book wet and ruined, then try a waterproof book. Yes, there are waterproof books, and I found 2 of them -- The Beach Book and Poolside. Both books are collections of short stories by a variety of authors; some very well known authors too.
3). National Stop Bullying Day: This holiday is a national effort to confront the increase in school bullying and also cyber bullying. With the increase in technology and computers, the amount of cyber bullying is on the rise. It's so much easier for someone to bully someone else when they aren't face to face and can even set up a false ID.
I'm been lucky with my kids. We put a stop to Pher being bullied immediately, and Angela I really don't worry too much about. Angela has always stood up for herself and others. When she was 4, a bigger 7 yr old was picking on (and did hit) a friend of hers and made him cry. Angela hauled off and bopped the other kid in the nose and just yelled at him to leave them alone. Angela didn't hurt the kid, but that was the last time he picked on them....and actually, it's been over 10 yrs and the boy is still afraid of Angela. LOL. He'll graduate this year...hmm.
4). National Bagels and Lox Day: Yum! I grew up with hot, fresh bagels and lox. This is a melding of Jewish and American tradition through cured fish as an unusual but beloved breakfast item. I like it.... Check around, as some stores are giving away a free bagel with lox.
5). Pizza Pie Day: While we think of pizza as a quintessential Italian food, food historians credit the idea of using bread as a “plate†for an assortment of toppings and seasonings to the Greeks. Either way, it's PIZZA Day. I have a free pizza from Papa Johns coming, so I guess I'll order it for the husband and kids for dinner.
If you find anything else, just post it below. Have a great Saturday!

I'm glad you're getting some weekend time off, Jax. And I hope you and Pher are doing better with the eczema.
LOL
How is Pher?
