I hit the snooze button a few too many times.. but still got up before the younger 2 had to be off to school. Thankfully hubby had gotten up a bit earlier to make sure they got fed. So as I come down the stairs I see the 6 year old on the sofa in his pj's and it's almost 8. I asked why he wasn't dressed, hubby said he was sick so staying home. I guess he woke up coughing and his voice sounded like a frog. He seems okay now.. not coughing, talking fine, doesn't feel warm to the touch anymore. Oh well.. he's home now. I'll probably have to take him grocery shopping with me as I don't see how we'll last another day if I don't get the shopping done today.
So then the 5 year old walks in, all dressed and ready for school. For weeks now he's been talking about today being pajama day. We went to Walmart yesterday to buy him a brand new pair of pajama pants to wear today that matched perfectly with a t-shirt he already had. We spent an hour last night locating the t-shirt and he finally had everything ready. He told me last night he put the pajamas in his bag.. and I told him he'd have to put them on this morning, he says he put them in his bag so he knew where they were.
Yet this morning he comes out in normal school clothes. I asked him why he's not wearing the pajamas, he says they're still in his bag.. that the teacher says he has to change at school. I am certain he is misinformed because I can't imagine them having time for 20 kids to change into pajamas once at school, he only goes for half day.. and I don't see the harm in him wearing the pajamas to school anyway.. so I tell him to change. He decides to be stubborn. Instead of changing he just stands in the middle of his room crying.
I guess I should have given up and let him wear regular clothes.. but I was barely awake yet and felt it easier for him to put the pajamas on now. We probably struggled for about 20 minutes trying to convince him to change into the pajamas all the while all he wanted to do was stand there and cry and not get ready for school at all. Got to a point I was worried he might miss the bus as he still didn't have socks on and still had to track down the rest of his stuff.. boots, coat, gloves, hat, etc...
Anyway, he finally changed and got over his mood in plenty of time to catch the bus. But our little adventure had gotten me a bit stressed due to being sleepy and being concerned he'd miss his bus.
But he made it.. he's off to school in his pajamas.. and my 6 year old is here watching TV and clearing his throat every 5 seconds although not actually coughing.
Seems around here we never have an easy morning while getting ready for school.
