Sorry! I thought I posted this early this morning. I guess I screwed up and just saved it.
TGIF. Pher has a doctor's appointment today, and I dread it. I bet the doc will want him to postpone surgery, and that won't make any of us happy. I guess it's wait and see, again.
So...what are we celebrating.....
1). Boy Scout Day: This holiday celebrates the birthday of Scouting in America. On February 8, 1910, Chicago publisher William Dickson Boyce filed incorporation papers in the District of Columbia to create the Boy Scouts of America. Scouting groups across the country celebrate this day. Scout Sunday, the Sunday nearest the 8th of February, will often be marked with a church service where the Scouts are in uniform. At the church that sponsors our Scouts, the Scouts will actually participate in the service....and after church, our Scouts will be cleaning up the road as part of Adopt a Highway and Keep Cobb Beautiful. Christopher has been in Scouts since he was a Tiger Cub, and now he's an Eagle.
2). Kite Flying Day: People have enjoyed flying kites for thousands of years. It's an ever popular activity for children, and enjoyed by many adults, but why in the world would someone put this day in FEBRUARY??? It's too darn cold in many places in the US.....and plus, isn't March more the kite flying weather?
3). Laugh and Get Rich Day: I know, I know.....who comes up with these?!?!? Go out and laugh then. Okay, I'm not going to guarantee that by laughing you'll become richer monetarily. I DO have a guarantee, though: Laugh and you WILL become richer or at least you'll feel better. If someone figures out a way to profit from laughing, please let me know....
4). National Molasses Bar Day: Molasses is a thick, sticky syrup made from sugarcane. The word molasses comes from the Portuguese word “melaco,” which evolved from the Latin “mel,” meaning “honey.” The quality of molasses depends on the maturity of the sugarcane, the amount of sugar extracted, and the method of extraction. Grab a spicy and sweet molasses treat to celebrate National Molasses Bar Day! If I had time I'd make molasses cookies.
So, Go Fly A Kite (I always wanted to tell someone to do that....LOL), laugh, eat a treat, and celebrate the Boy Scouts.
If you find anything else, just post it below.
