The Vampire Diaries season 4 continues next week with episode 14, "Down the Rabbit Hole," and trouble continues on the island—as well as in Mystic Falls.
In "Down the Rabbit Hole," Damon's ugly run-in with Vaughn, one of the Five, is going to continue, while Elena's going to find out from Stefan how he really feels about the possibility of being human. You knew that had to be coming after the last conversation between those two and Rebekah in "Into the Wild." But when they find out a new piece of information about the cure everyone's looking for, the stakes change for everyone. Meanwhile, Bonnie's going to need Jeremy's help in this episode to figure out what's real and what's an illusion, and given how "Into the Wild" ended for them, they're going to need each other because who knows what Shane will do next. And speaking of Shane, he's going to be comforted by someone from his past, Caitlin. Finally, back in Mystic Falls, Caroline (who's thankfully alive after the ordeal she went through in the last episode) and Tyler are going to be running into some trouble themselves when they realize they can't translate the code on the Hunter's Sword without Klaus' help, but of course, he has his own reasons for solving the puzzle. He may have saved Caroline, but that doesn't mean they can suddenly trust him.
The Vampire Diaries season 4 episode 14 promo offers a hint at the conversation to come between Elena and Stefan. It also shows that the "fun" on the island has just begun as Shane continues to talk about raising Silas, and Jeremy seems to be trying to offer some comfort to Bonnie. Meanwhile, there's also a glimpse at Damon facing off with Vaughn, and Damon's not worried ("You don't know my friends") despite his bloody neck.

It's funny that Damon called them his friends when he's done so many bad things to all of them. I love the guy though, so I don't care. I just wish he was better to Elena. Also, I'm disappointed in this season. I think VD set the bar so high that anything less than edge of your seat is disappointing. And this season, after like the first five episodes, there just hasn't been much.
