DHS Purchases 21.6 Million More Rounds of Ammunition

The Department of Homeland Security is set to purchase a further 21.6 million rounds of ammunition to add to the 1.6 billion bullets it has already obtained over the course of the last 10 months alone, figures which have stoked concerns that the federal agency is preparing for civil unrest.
A solicitation posted yesterday on the Fed Bid website details how the bullets are required for the DHS Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, New Mexico.
The solicitation asks for 10 million pistol cartridge .40 caliber 165 Grain, jacketed Hollow point bullets (100 quantities of 100,000 rounds) and 10 million 9mm 115 grain jacketed hollow point bullets (100 quantities of 100,000 rounds).
The document also lists a requirement for 1.6 million pistol cartridge 9mm ball bullets (40 quantities of 40,000 rounds).
An approximation of how many rounds of ammunition the DHS has now secured over the last 10 months stands at around 1.625 billion.
To put that in perspective, during the height of active battle operations in Iraq, US soldiers used 5.5 million rounds of ammunition a month. Extrapolating the figures, the DHS has purchased enough bullets over the last 10 months to wage a full scale war for almost 30 years.
Such massive quantities of ammo purchases have stoked fears that the agency is preparing for some kind of domestic unrest. In 2011, Department of Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano directed Immigration and Customs Enforcement to prepare for a mass influx of immigrants into the United States, calling for the plan to deal with the “shelter†and “processing†of large numbers of people.
The federal agency’s primary concern is now centered around thwarting “homegrown terrorism,†but information produced and used by the DHS to train its personnel routinely equates conservative political ideology with domestic extremism.
A study funded by the Department of Homeland Security that was leaked last year characterizes Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority,†and “reverent of individual liberty†as “extreme right-wing†terrorists.

Well here we go again. Even the unenformed should be thinking why on earth are they buying all this ammo. But of course they won't, or they will make up excuses for their lover who runs the country. Oh it is for this or that. Maybe they will need it for all the conflict going on over seas. It is mind blowing on these people isn't it. They have no clue what is coming because Obamanus hasn't taken the guns. OM-G, it isn't going to happen like they see it in tv a sudden swoop down on people, and the banging at your doors!
The banging at your doors will come if and when he calls a National Executive order, or finds a way to claim a nation security issue. Is it that hard to figure it out, see it, probably because these people won't believe crap until it hits them right in the face.
But you'll have that when in a trance you can't blame them to much for being such suckers to a Presidential crime they can't face, dont want to face, and dont want to be embarrassed by the fact they voted for the idiot which are the very same peple helping to destroy the country he would have won either way. He won before anybody even voted for him another piece of news the uninformed have no clue about.  Eeeeh maybe one day they will get it, surely by then it's way to late. Esepcially when they are starving to death.

I am concerned by why this is being done... don't get me wrong... but one thing wars do is line the pockets of the companies that provide the products needed to wage the wars. In peacetime, their products aren't needed as much.
Well what do you know about that? ATK is right here in my neck of the woods in Utah. If it's the same ATK. If it is, we sure could use the business. ATK has recently been laying off hundreds of employees.
So there's that. The upcoming civil unrest might help out Utah's employment outlook.
They have been a supplier of ordnance to the military for some time, anything from 120mm tank ammo on down, to mortars and mines.
I believe the Utah facility is primarily involved in rocket engines/propulsion systems, and was at one time Morton-Thiokol Inc. until bought by ATK. The cancellation of the Space Shuttle program no doubt put a dent in production employment in Utah.
"This is not the first time DHS has placed such an order, however. In 2009, it signed a contract with Winchester for the procurement of 200 million hollow points.
The order may seem unusually high, but gun experts I talked to said it is not necessarily unusual and simply reflects a long-running practice by DHS and law enforcement agencies to use any remaining budget surplus on items routinely used and that would not be called into question. The idea being that if an agency does not use its entire budget in expenditures, the government will lower its budget the following year."
Seriously, "right wing paranoia"?
"This is not the first time DHS has placed such an order, however. In 2009, it signed a contract with Winchester for the procurement of 200 million hollow points." Ohhhhhh, I see, so since this isn't the first time they made such a purchase, now it is normal. Really? Nothing strange here? A bullet designed to do MAXIMUM damage to a human body. I'm sure you are betting that you will be exempt from one being used on you. These bullets ARE NOT used for practice shooting. You do know that, right?
"The order may seem unusually high, but gun experts I talked to said it is not necessarily unusual and simply reflects a long-running practice by DHS and law enforcement agencies to use any remaining budget surplus on items routinely used and that would not be called into question."
...of course, not one bit "unusual".
"items routinely used" R E A L L Y? Routinely used? WHEN? When does the DHS "routinely" use hollow tip bullets? That question didn't even pop into your head, huh? Helloooo, is anybody in there? What a vacuum.
"The idea being that if an agency does not use its entire budget in expenditures, the government will lower its budget the following year."
...sooo, of all of the items on the planet to be considered for purchase, hollow tip bullets, bullets designed for maximum killing of humans, to be purchased by the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS just seemed like the most logical and normal decision to be made? WOW WOW WOW, it's just amazing how the liberal mind works... or doesn't.
