Amazon Prime is available by ordering it at Amazon or the kindle. I decided to share information about my thoughts on my free trial of the service. I have a new Kindle Fire, which offered me a free trial of Amazon Prime. I really thought why would I use it, as normally its easy to spend $25 at Amazon. My daughter needed 1 textbook and with my trial membership the shipping was free for the book that was about $4.00 with the sales tax. This means no ordering of items we really don't need right now.
The other plus is all the movies and television shows I can watch free this month. There will no no what do I watch now this month. Its a chance to see a few movies that I want to see, but wouldn't pay the fee at Blockbuster.
Have you tried Amazon Prime?

As you say, simple everyday things at discount prices now make sense to order on Prime. On top of that, we buy Amazon gift cards to fuel our purchases at our local grocery store and earn 'FuelPerks' for gasoline. Normally the perk is 6% back in gas, up to thirty gallons at a pop. A few times each year, the perk doubles to 12% back.
What this means for us is that even items that cost the same amount locally save us if gas.
Here's a few of the things we've bought in the last month off Amazon:
Tim Horton's coffee
Pet gate
Magnifying glass
Compass (for treasure hunting)
Three books
Plush toy
Turbo Tax ($10 cheaper than anywhere else)
Advantix II flea treatment
Hearing aid batteries (cheaper than eBay, the better to hear you with, my dear)
I've already saved $375+ in shipping costs from buying things like a new mattress, lamps, a flat screen tv, and a couple of other things through Amazon. Since I have a Kindle, I love the lending library as well. While it works well for us and it's a huge bargain, I can see where it would be expensive for others.
