Creative People

I've never been even adequate at any kind of art. This was disappointing to me, since I'm a Libra who are supposed to be artistic. I love art, whether paintings or sculpture.  I love music, too, in many forms. As a child I took accordion (which I hated) and piano lessons (while hate is a strong word, dislike isn't strong enough). I was never good at either. I didn't do badly unless someone was around to hear me, but I didn't enjoy it that much when I was playing alone either. Good writing is another creative endeavor that attracts me. I'm better at writing than art or music, but you'll never hear my name on any published work.

For that reason, I've always admired people who are creative. People who can build things, like carpenters or tool and dyemakers, are included in that list. The house painter hired to do a friend's house talked her out of what she wanted and suggested something else. He understood what she wanted and knew how to make it look that way. Because of his artistry, the rooms looked totally different when he finished and made the statement she wanted. My stepsister is not only a good decorator, but also makes some of the items she uses.

When my nephews and nieces were young, I kept giving them gifts of paints, pens, crayons, chalk, all sorts of things to stir their artistry. Unfortunately, so far it hasn't worked. That's why I'm thrilled that my daughter is attending and enjoying her painting classes.

The Internet allows some people to be creative in ways they would never have been able to do before. Maybe it's just a flight of fancy on my part, but I believe it frees something inside you when you can make something special or turn something into a beautiful object. My stepfather is artistic, although he wouldn't admit it. He's done sculptures, stained glass, molded ceramics in his kilns, as well as making furniture, cabinets and other carpentry work. He worked a full-time job to support his farm, but made time to use the talent.

The Internet makes it possible for even those as lacking in artistry as I to make beautiful photos and designs.
