Genre Shorties Prompt -- Week 138 by Tracy Fabre
I steered the four wheeler off the ramp. Gayle and I were gabbing about purchases we made at the bling outlet. I turned left at the red octagon on the path to my hood. The beams on the parked black and white vehicle flashed at me. I waved, smiled, and lit my beams. Suddenly that vehicle was behind us furiously flashing red and yellow.
“Didn’t I stop, Gail? I’m sure I did!” I pulled over while she fished for my credentials in the mitten hold.
The man in blue looked down at me as my perplexed peepers looked up.
“Didn’t you see the alert?”
“Of course I saw it. I live around the bend. I thought I stopped” I stammered.
“Nope, not even a movie star pause... OK, I’m going to exonerate you this time.”
“Thanks so much!” But my moist peepers silently screamed “ I LOVE YOU!”

Ok, now that I've fulfilled the prompt, this is what actually transpired: We went to a closeout sale at a bead shop in Niles Canyon. I failed to stop at the intersection on the way to my home where I have lived for 29 years. The officer was sensitive to the fact that I was so busy talking to my girlfriend that I didn't heed the usual rigamorale.... And he let me go!!!!!! OMG It was the first time in my life that I didn't have to PAY for my mistake. Hallelujah, a nice man with a badge!
P.S. I've gotten four tickets in my life and I was guilty for each one.
