HELP! What is wrong with gather or my computer?

Is it gather or my computer?  I cannot put picture on Gather now.  I opened it this morning and it said I had to download a plug-in. Well, I downloaded Java and it keeps telling me it hasn't been downloaded but it has.

Java is supposed to be screwed up these days anyway...

I had to go to Java on my computer and click on the update (easy/fast and walks you through it) Go see if there's any updates available for it. After that, try logging off then back on. Hope that helps.

I had the same or similar problem yesterday trying to publish a picture... finally gave up after trying several things. I'm not sure, but it crossed my mind that the threat of that virus associated with Java and my browser's actions to help stop the spread of it may be playing a roll? I dunno'...

I haven't tried to upload any pictures lately, but it worries me.

I have tried to download the Java too but I decided not to do it. I know there has been some type of virus attached to it, or something like that, I was warned to remove Java for awhile so I am not posting anything to Gather for awhile until I hear otherwise.

I tried to do a survey earlier on my desktop and it said I didn't have java installed which I do.

I have been having the same problem. I think it could be because of the potential virus.. Also it could be in your browser. I can not run off of I.E at all. I am doing Firefox.

you don't just download it you have to run it all well to install it on your computer

If you have a MAC that's not Lion or Mountain Lion, forget it. You have to have the latest update for it to work in Windows. I run Windows on my MAC so I have to upload my photos on the Windows part of my computer and let it share the picture files on the MAC side.
