A lot of my friends really like NPR (National Public Radio). I'll admit that I've long had a bit of a knee-jerk reaction towards any sort of talk radio, and not in a good way. Because so much of what's on the radio shows can be utter tripe-- celebrity gossip, mainly-- I've long hated it. Especially since people seem to like to have it on for early morning car rides. Really, I'd just rather have silence, thanks very much, than hear a bunch of ninnies chatter about who's dating who or who offended who.
NPR, of course, is a much different animal than music-station talk radio. It tends to be more thoughtful and informative. Still, I really just had no interest in listening to it, or, at least, to much of it.
My boss, however, often has it on while we're working in the warehouse. I've come not to mind it so much, as the programs he listens to tend to be more thoughtful and interesting. Some, I think, would end up boring the heck out of me quite quickly, but these mostly haven't.
So, I'm curious! Do you listen to NPR? What sort of programs?

I just listen to the classical music station if I have the radio on.
Sure some of it just isn't for me, but thats when i just put in a CD or something. I have discovered so many things thanks to NPR.
Science Friday is my favorite show. I wish they did it every day!
I don't even know what my boss usually has on, but the one day there was a pretty interesting interview with Dustin Hoffman. Yesterday, there was a super sad interview with a guy who wrote about the crimes committed by American soldiers in Vietnam, but it helped me understand a little better why my one uncle came back so messed up.
I don't think I've ever listened to NPR. I'll have to check it out.
Scr*w that!
