It's official!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband started work this morning at a car manufacturer called Tenneco. There was a catch when he took the job though. After three weeks of him going to work 6am to 6pm he has to switch to a type of second shift which is 6pm to 6am.

This is going to suck for me. It's really hard to sleep without my husband and we have a lot to talk about. We have to try to and fix us too.

Living with my parents is hard for me to do again since we were on our own for so long. And at times it can be a bit much. I know that we have to think of us together as a family of four but what gets lost is that there is a marriage between me and my husband. The family of us gets soooo lost.

Hopefully we'll get everything worked out because we were talking last night before we went to bed about when we first met. It was amazing. We talked about all our Valentine's. This year will be year four for us and our third anniversary is in May.

It's going to be very hard on your husband when he makes that shift switch. Please do what you can to see that he gets lots of good nutrition (and vitamin / mineral supplements) around that time since his body will be under considerable stress. He'll also need extra sleep so don't plan on any long trips driving at that time.

It's great he is working again, and the hours are not great, but I am sure in time he will be able to get normal hours again. Marriage is a constant work in progress. You are in a certain phase right now but the phase will pass and soon you will be back on your own again in your own place. Just make the best of the fact that he is working.

We're working on both. Just the marriage thing takes longer and more work than his job requires lol.

Awesome that he got the job. Bummer for the overnight shift in the near future. It will be hard for him to get good sleep during the day. Blacking out the bedroom windows and white noise helps.

Ha we live with my parents and a very active dog. I don't see the noise going away. But he knows what he's getting into. The job isn't really a worry it just sucks

I also used to work the overnight shift. I got to where I would have done most anything to get a whole eight hours sleep all in a row.

Yeah it's going to be rough on him because the house is so active. If it was our own house we'd sleep together when he got home and it would be quietter

Congrats to both of you. My dad did shift work so I know where you are coming from. Just make sure that he gets as much sleep as possible and healthy diet!

It is wonderfull that he is back to work and hev you better take care of the man since you are spending all his money. Trust me her husband is very well taken care of. I am her her mom.

Great news that he is back to work. You will just have to work out a schedule that allows the most family time as possible. You will really appreciate those two nights that you do get to sleep together. You will make it work...B

I'll end up sleeping with him anyway cuz while he's at work I'll wait up for him. That's just me. As for working the marriage thing out we will eventually

Given the time slot, the fact that he is working should overshadow your misgivings. Somehow I think you will all work it out.

I'm sorry to hear the shift patterns have changed but I'm so pleased for you both that he now has a job. He must be really pleased. Perhaps the shift won't be a permanent one or maybe when someone else joins the company they'll get his shift and he can go back to the day one.

Well we're checking out this truck and I told him if this comes through like we want it too then maybe he could reapply for perdu. They were offering him second shift but those hrs were a bit better. 3pm to 11:30pm. I would be ok with that

Yeah but he has to start treating me like his wife again and not just...some woman. The job isn't really the problem

It's probably the same here in Tennessee. It's hard for me to find a job in retail and I have experience. But he told me I don't have to go to work if I don't wanna.

I'm glad the job came through, though the shift change and the resulting change in your family and couple life will require a lot of adjustment. Sounds like the motivation is there, though, to make it work.
