A Lovely Day for a Walk by the River

Spent a relaxing day, sleeping in, recovering from the seminar and shopping trip yesterday. About noon Hubby agreed to go walk by the river with me. I wanted to show him the cross I shared here earlier that you only see from the riverbed. He got tired pretty easily, but we still had a short walk on a beautiful day.

We weren't the only ones out enjoying the river. A family walked north past us, and we later saw the children wading across the river, which, as you can see, is not very deep or wide this year. I photographed them playing in the river.

I gave my husband a lesson in recognizing the young poison hemlock and milk thistle plants, since he doesn't look at the Internet and hasn't read my visual hubs on the subject. After that, he was tired. I took this last photo of him heading down the path to go back to the car.

Thanks, Wendy. I wish my childhood had included a river. All we had were the Los Angeles, Long Beach, and San Gabriel Rivers, which were pretty much cement channels for when we had really bad rainstorms. I don't think I ever saw water in them when I was a child. Where we did see what looked like a river was the street I lived on. It had very poor drainage, and we waded home from school in what we referred to as Stevens (the name of our street) Lake. The main street a couple of blocks away was referred to as Clark River.
