Tina Turner, whose very name is synonymous with American R 'n B, is seeking to renounce her American citizenship and become a Swiss citizen.
Turner has been living in Zurich since the mid 1990's, according to ABC News. She first came to Zurich with her long-time partner, German music manager Erwin Bach.
She was born Anna Mae Bulloch in Nutbush, Tennessee and first became famous as part of a duo with her husband Ike Turner. But that was a violent, abusive relationship and they split in the 1970's and she courageously went solo, rebuilding her career with hits like "Private Dancer" and "What's Love Got to Do With It." She has sold 200 million records.
Certainly, it seems a shame for America to lose claim to such a great musician, but at 73 Turner deserves to live where she feels most comfortable and at home, and after years in Zurich, it's obvious that is where she wants to be. Hopefully, she has found peace and contentment after her wild musical ride.
