Do you really want to lie down, play dead and give government free reign while your Constitutional rights are being chipped away at and eventually stolen from you? Your choice, friend, however, there are millions who haven't throughout history and wouldn't today, agree with you.....

And I believe, that according to our history, it was those courageous men who wouldn't agree that gave you the once free America you now live in?

You see Larry“Come and take it,” was the battle cry and banner of the Texas Revolution after the 1835 Battle of Gonzalez, in which Texans defied the Mexican government’s demand to return a cannon that had been given them for self-defense. They didn't just lie down and surrender the cannon to Mexican dragoons....... They stormed the Mexican camp and drove the soldiers away. Sometimes ya win, sometimes ya loose but what's ones option when your back's against a wall?

What say you then? Should men just whine and accept or at the very least, let them know we stand ready to protect our families and our God given rights, whatever the cost?

Please read your history. Big money rules now and in the past. The Constitution and the law have never protected you. Owning guns does not protect you. As a practical matter we have no "rights" that cannot be ignored by government working for big money interests. The old saying "you can't fight city hall" is true if city hall is working for big money interests. If city hall tries to fight big money interests, it loses.

As history shows, our revolution was conducted by local big money interests fighting big money interests from across the seas. We won because we had major help from another big money interest from across the seas. The revolution did nothing for the slaves, for women, for the native Americans, or for the poor.

Having grown up in Texas I am rather familiar with Texas history. The immigrants to Texas took over the state from Mexico. Those immigrants were the big money interests of the state at the time. Again, big money fighting big money. The conditions for the slaves and women and native Americans in Texas was not improved by that revolution either.

It's the gun owners who are whining today. History shows that rabble do not defeat the military. (Yes I know about the storming of the Bastille.) It's stupid to think that a few individual gun owners are going to succeed in going against even the National Guard. Who's going to protect your home from mortar fire? What good is you M15 with large clip against an armored personnel carrier or even a Humvee? Violent revolution will only kill thousands and get strong man rule with not even a nod toward the Constitution. So don't tell me your guns are going to protect you from the government because they won't.

If God gave you rights no one could take them from you no matter how well armed they were.

So again I ask you Larry, what do you suggest the common folks do to protect their families?

I just read "If God gave you rights no one could take them from you no matter how well armed they were" ..... but they sure could make you miserable trying to take what is yours, they may even crucify you. Hitler killed Jews, God's chosen people. They no longer owned guns, they couldn't fight back. It took a few years of misery before the Hilter devil was defeated. It's easy to conquer a disarmed nation when the citizens have no way of defending themselves and it's sad to think that Americans should have to defend themselves against our own government. I don't want to say "Hail Obama" ... in fact, I refuse to. Obama care is gonna kill me sooner or later anyway. Hey just wait until that health care tax hits your pocket book and it will if it hasn't already. So much for free! We pay with pocket books and our souls.

In ages past, before gunpowder weapons, the average folks did have weapons and were armed. They were still oppressed and enslaved. Having personal arms does not protect one from government (or the small army employed by the baron in the next county over).

Government grows for two reasons. 1) The more industrialized we become the less able are families to take care of themselves in all circumstances. 2) Big money interests can work their will using government so the bigger the better from their point of view.

The government is merely a symptom of the problem, not the source of the problem. Don't confuse the fever with the disease.

What if every pismire in this nation prepared themselves and their families and just went on strike or better yet, to trade and barter? Without OUR tax money to fund their "boom town", I suspect they might suffer more severely and a wee bit sooner than we? Weaken the beast, chain it and throw it back in its cage..... They work for us, don't they? Or according to popular opinion, we could just keep feeding the monster out of fear or because of our own selfishness and short term convenience and hope that goliath doesn't turn on us? We have had the Whiskey Rebellion and the Civil War. How did those work out?

We also have the ACLU and other groups that have worked through the legal system and via passive resistance (Martin Luther King) to bring about change and reduce government abuses. That seems to have worked much better.

There are some places in the U.S. where the government doesn't intrude. The worst of the slums for example. For some reason, people with guns run the place and exploit the poor who live there.

Gun laws will never keep guns away from criminals or nut-cases who with those gun laws give them a distinct advantage. They will always be able to buy what they want on the black market. Without a balance of power and even-playing field the bad guys will kill you. When seconds count you can bet that law enforcement will not be there for you, in time, when you need them the most.
