Cake and Gravy (Genre Shorties Prompt -- Week 137)

Pan cakes and Gravy

Recipe

1 medium onion, chopped, sauteed to golden

½ cup diced ham

¼ teaspoon sage

1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or jack are nice)

2 cups Bisquik©

1 cup milk

2 eggs

Sausage gravy

In large bowl, whisk Bisquik©, sage, milk and eggs together till smooth, mix in onions, diced ham and shredded cheese;
Cook cakes on a hot, oiled griddle;
Arrange on plates;
Pour gravy over cakes, making sure to include chunks of sausage
Garnish with orange slice
Pour remaining gravy into pitcher
Dump diet
Serve
Yummmmmm

I like the way you think. You could even substitute for the Bisquick by using buttermilk instead of milk, add a little baking soda and baking powder plus some peanut oil.

Actually, I rarely use bisquik, but the word count limited my ingredients list.

I have a friend who will commit just about any crime if I promise she won't have to cook. It's a great arrangement - I go to her house and make a fiendish mess in the kitchen and everybody eats, then she happily cleans it all up!
