I decided I was well enough to visit my mother and stepfather today. I'd had a 10 minute conversation on the phone with my friend without coughing too much. The weather was a wonderful 71 degrees when I left.
I picked up some books from a freecycler on my way. I had looked at Mapsco for the directions, then looked at the map. The directions had me going to an exit about 4 north and then driving south. I could tell from the map that the other way was much closer to the highway and only 4 turns, just like the other way. I was a little nervous, but that way was perfect. I found the house easily. The lady had advertised 10 books, but had added even more. I was very happy about getting the books.
I had the windows down on the rest of the way. My mother had started buying books on Amazon, so the books she chose were saving her money. They had collected some postage stamps that I didn't have. One of them was valuable, too. My mother had made lunch which I enjoyed. She made cornbread. I really like cornbread and had even been thinking about it the yesterday. It had been too long since I had any. We had a healthy lunch of sliced tomato, avocado and lima beans. After all these weeks without a conversation, it was such a nice visit. Their neighbor brought a cake over. The lady is 91 years old and walks a quick mile daily. That's inspiring.
My mother has wanted to go to Hawaii all my life and my father always refused. He wouldn't admit it, but he was scared to fly. My stepfather and she are going to Hawaii in May. She may be 86, but she'll get that goal.
The weather was good, the traffic wasn't bad, the food delicious, and the company was good. I'm not congested so I cough very little. I got home with about 8 books I had wanted to read. I couldn't ask for more from my day.

It's warmed up here.......got up to about 16 degrees today........felt great being outdoors, running errands......I love the wind blowing in my face, to totally "energize" me....when the temps get too warm, I get very lazy and don't get a whole lot accomplished!
That is awesome your mom will finally get her wish to go to Hawaii. That is my goal one day as well.
I am making a black and red bean that will go with that corn bread. I think I will be making some of that to go along with the stew. Thank you for the idea.
get to feeling better hugss
