Barry Manilow was one of my favorite singers from my younger years, so I was excited when he was the guest on Katie Couric yesterday. It was awesome to get to see him sing again, and the show revealed a couple of things about him I didn't know. He started an organization that supplies musical instruments to schools that can't afford them. His organization replaced instruments lost in the Joplin, Missouri tornado. This is the best kind of charity-one that helps people right here in the US. I was surprised to learn that he also wrote the jingles to some popular ads, including the Band-Aid ad, "I am stuck on Band-Aid, cause Band-Aid stuck on me", and the State Farm ad, "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there."
