50 Shades of Grey movie favorites like Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer might have a fierce fan following, but The Canyons actor James Deen has a powerful weapon that could help him defeat his competition in the contest for the role of Christian Grey—he's starred in thousands of real sex scenes.
The adult film star would be extremely comfortable recreating the explicit sex scenes described in E. L. James' erotic novel since he's probably shot similar scenes in some of his previous movies. He's used to getting up close and personal 
with actresses that he's just met, so he wouldn't find it awkward to get naked with whoever gets cast as Anastasia Steele. He also wouldn't laugh at the moniker "Anastasia Steele" since he's used to the silly-sounding fake names that adult movie actresses come up with.
James Deen recently talked to Entertainment Weekly about the 50 Shades of Grey movie, and he said that Christian Grey is a character that he could "have a lot of fun with."
However, James' competition makes him feel just a tad inadequate. Here's what he said about some of the Christian Grey fan favorites:
"As I understand, the rumors [for Christian] are some guy who's on a TV show on USA [Matt Bomer], some model dudes, and Ryan Gosling. I feel like me versus Ryan Gosling? There's an easy decision on where the studio is going to go. But if I got offered the role, I would definitely consider it. If they wanted me to audition, I would absolutely go in and read for them."
Fifty fans will be outraged that he forgot to mention Ian Somerhalder.
Since Deen resembles religious crusader Kirk Cameron, it's really hard to imagine him as Christian Grey, and his link to American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis could hurt his chances of scoring the part. Ellis angered Fifty fans by tweeting that Matt Bomer shouldn't get cast as Christian Grey because he's gay, and he claimed to have knowledge that James Deen was being considered for the role. However, the producers have denied that any casting talks have taken place since the movie has no screenplay or director yet. Ellis and Deen know each other because Ellis wrote the screenplay for Deen's movie The Canyons.
Speaking of The Canyons, starring in that movie probably won't help Deen's chances of getting cast as Christian—it's quality is so bad that it's been rejected by two film festivals. However, maybe the 50 Shades producers will be impressed that James survived working with Lindsay Lohan. It will be hilarious if Lilo decides that she should follow her costar by pursuing the role of Anastasia Steele.
Maybe Deen would be better cast in a porn parody of 50 Shades, and perhaps Lindsay Lohan should seriously consider starring in it with him—with the way her career has been going lately, it might be the only work that she can get.
