This week's challenge: Write about promises.

 

Promises do not mean a thing.

I promise to be clean.

I promise to do the laundry.

I promise fidelity.

I promise for my homework to be done on time.

I promise to make fine wine.

 

I promise to be willing and free to do anything.

I promise to be stubborn.

I promise the world.

I don’t promise anything.

For I am stingy.

I think your poem of promises captures the essence of our existence. I never thought of it as being stingy but perhaps it is.

Thank you Priscilla. In this instance, the narrator has lived a life of stinginess. Promising and not delivering, is the worst sort of offense.

Some people take promises seriously. And they keep them. At least the most important ones. I know some people like that.

Yes, thank you. I am one of the few in my family, who makes a promise, that I tend to keep it.
