It's been over a year since the ABC soaps All My Children and One Life to Live got canceled. Earlier steps to bring the shows online weren't successful. However, now it appears a new deal is in the works. In the case of the latter soap, some heavy hitters have already signed on the dotted line. They include Kassie DePaiva (Blair Cramer), Erika Slezak (Victoria Lord), Hilary B. Smith (Nora Buchanan), Robin Strasser (Dorian Lord), Jerry verDorn (Clint Buchanan), Tuc Watkins (David Vickers) and Robert S. Woods (Bo Buchanan). Also on board at Melissa Archer (Natalie Banks), Florencia Lozano (Tea Delgado), Kelley Missal (Danielle Manning), Josh Kelly (Cutter Wentworth) and Andrew Trischitta (Jack Manning).

Kassie and Florencia have kept their characters alive through guest appearances on General Hospital. That's where Kassie's pretend daughter, Starr Manning (Kristen Alderson), landed after the show's unfortunate cancellation. Whether she'll abandon her new home to return to her former one remains unknown. However, it appears doubtful given that she's heavily embroiled in a romance with mob king Sonny Corinthos's son.
Also ensconced in Port Charles is Todd Manning (Roger Howarth), Starr's father and Blair's former husband. Given that he's about to be committed for a psych evaluation, it's also possible he could make the jump as well. Only time will tell.
The same can be said for John McBain (Michael Easton). He has a potential love interest in GH's Sam Morgan. However, talk about his continued love for ex girlfriend, Natalie Buchanan, has been strong as well. She's the mother of his only child. So Easton's character could easily go either way.
So far, a few other key players are missing, most notably Natalie's twin, Jessica (Bree Williamson). Sadly, the actress that played her for several years now has a job working on the Sy Fy hit, Haven. She may choose to remain there rather than return to her old stomping grounds. Also missing is hero, Rex Balsom (John-Paul Lavoisier) and his lover, Gigi Morasco (Farah Fath).
All My Children hasn't been quite as successful luring its major stars back into action. Susan Lucci probably won't return as the titular show maven, Erica Kane. Neither of her onscreen daughters (Alicia Minshew and Christina Bennett Lind) have signed up either. The same applies to Erica's last love interest, Jackson Montgomery (Walt Willey). J.R. Chandler's portrayer, Jacob Young, is a no-go as well. He's playing on another soap. Several other key players are missing too like Ryan Lavery (Cameron Mathison), Tad Martin (Michael E. Knight) and Greenlee Smythe (Rebecca Buddig) just to name a few.
However, a few big names are ready to give an online gig a try. They include Darnell Williams (Jessie Hubbard), Debbi Morgan (Angie Hubbard), Vincent Irizarry (David Haywood), Lindsay Hartley (Cara Martin), Thorsten Kay (Zach Slater), Jill Larson (Opal Cortlandt) and Jordi Vilasuso (Griffen Castillo). It's a start and could lead others back into the fray as well.
No date has been set for the return of the two beloved soaps. However, it's a safe bet that tomorrow couldn't be soon enough for the fans of One Life to Live and All My Children.
